Anxiety

Most people who have a phobia about some specific thing or situation, can still feel calm and confident at other times.

But another group of people have no specific phobia, but are excessively anxious every day, about all sorts of ordinary things.

Maybe you’re worried rather than interested and excited by the thought of meeting someone new, or going somewhere you’ve never visited before.

Maybe you’re constantly checking the time, or studying timetables excessively, or going over instructions over and over again.

Maybe you are constantly alert for signs of danger, but pay little attention to more pleasant things.

Even when nothing’s happening, the anxiety is always there, like a background noise.

Deep down in your mind, you may have come to believe that life is unsafe, that no one can be trusted and nothing is reliable.

And yet another part of you knows that most of your worries are unnecessary.

You see other people enjoying life to the full, while you struggle.

You know that they keep safe and healthy without constant checking and obsessing.

You want to be like them but your brain won’t let you.

Maybe you’ve had therapy, even hypnotherapy, or medication for this problem but it hasn’t worked.

Do not give up.
